A quick life and baby update

I’m finally back at home… Hallelujah!!!!!

Firstly, I would like to thank each and every Mama that has shown me love and support over the last two weeks. I think I scared a few of you with my Instagram post during my hospital stay, I’m sorry 🙂

Although this will be a very short post, as I’m still in recovery, I just wanted to give you a quick update on what’s been going on in my world. I don’t even have pics to add to this post hahaha.

Life:

I was away from home for the first time since giving birth to my daughter in March. She has spent a night at my mom’s house here and there, but this was the first over-24-hours experience. I went on a five-day work trip; which took months/weeks of mental preparation to be able to do, but I did it and I will be sharing some tips on this soon.

Unfortunately, I came back home on the Friday to huge amounts of stomach pain. I had been feeling it gradually build up during the course of the week, but simply assumed that it was due to the anxiety and importance of the project we were doing, combined with being overwhelmed at being away from home.

It turned out that it was appendicitis and I had to have an emergency appendectomy to remove it. Long story short, during the operation, the surgeons discovered that my appendix had actually burst. So what was supposed to be a quick operation and recovery has been a slightly more serious case. I spent a further five nights in hospital… yes after being away for a week… so I’m currently resting, taking it easy and enjoying being with my loved ones AT HOME!!

As you can imagine, it’s been difficult to do or focus on anything else. There is no sense of routine and I’ve missed out on some amazing blogging opportunities but my family and health come first for now.

The kids:

So much going on with Khumo who 8 months old now. She is crawling everywhere and eating everything. She literally goes around picking for things on the floor haha. She also walks by supporting herself along the walls and couches, I love her fearlessness, as exhausting as it is.

She is finally SLEEPING very well – it took us long enough didn’t it?! She goes to bed around 7:30pm and wakes up for one bottle. Her daytime naps are also getting longer. I really can’t believe how fast she is progressing – I must say, although I’ve been away from home a lot, I am loving month eight!

Lesedi is almost at the end of grade 2 and his 8th birthday is approaching. I’m quite disoragnised but I know that we will have an epic celebration – he hasn’t had a party in the last two years so I have some making-up to do! I’m also wrapping up the stationary and uniform for 2017, I hate the December rush (Yes, this is a hint to please get yourself organised too).

Really have to get going… Thank you again. I am so blessed to have my life, family, friends, health and YOU guys, I love my Mama-tribe!!

Let’s catch up on social media in the meantime – I’m on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Love,

Modern Zulu Mom
