Happy New Year!!!
As I reflect back at the last year, starting Modern Zulu Mom was a major goal and highlight. I cant believe this baby is 9 months old already!!
I have always wanted to create a platform and space to “vocalise” my personal highs and lows, throughout my 7 year journey as a mother. It took a lot for me to get the blog up and running, because I can be the worst of procrastinators at times PLUS my confidence levels need serious monitoring occasionally. The lesson here has been that all goals seem challenging or nearly impossible at first – you just need you to be brave enough to START!
Start where you are, with what you have!
Another high point was starting a new career path with a new corporate, leaving behind a specialisation I had cultivated for 6 years. By ‘high point’, I don’t mean that it was a smooth path, in fact it was the exact opposite, the learning curves were steep and the not ‘knowing it all’ stage was very uncomfortable for me – but the personal lessons I got out of the experience have been very much worth my while and I’m pleased that I can add a new skill to my professional portfolio.
Looking ahead in 2016:
There have been so many exciting changes in my personal life, most of which I will be sharing with you in the next few weeks. This year, I would love to get more personal with you [so you can look forward to more pictures than words in some posts]. I would also love to have some one-on-one interactions with you and get to meet the Mama’s who support Modern Zulu Mom in person.
and of course, I intend to have as many giveaways as possible, I know you guys love those!
Other things I want to do more of in 2016:
- Complain and stress less
- Take greater responsibility for every area of my life, especially health and finances
- Travel more and expose my son to new places and experiences
- Be as forgiving to myself, as I am of others
On that note, I would love to hear more about your goals and aspirations for the year.
I wish you the very best of luck with all your endeavours. *cheers to us being the best moms we can be*
Thank you for all your support!!!
